What this is
TabEdit is a free browser-based editor for tab-separated and comma-separated files. It runs entirely on your device. There is no account, no subscription and no server-side processing of your files.
Using the site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it.
Your files are yours
You keep every right you have in the files you open. Nothing in these terms grants any licence over your content, because no content ever reaches us — the files are read and written by your own browser.
You are responsible for what you open and for having the right to work with it.
No warranty
The site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
This is not boilerplate to skim past. It is a tool that edits data files, and you should treat it accordingly:
- Keep a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose before editing it. That is good practice with any editor, including this one.
- The editor is designed to give a file back without altering anything you did not change, and that behaviour is tested continuously, but no such guarantee can be absolute across every file every tool has ever produced.
- Autosave keeps your work in your browser’s own storage. Browsers can and do clear that — in private windows, when space runs short, or when you clear site data. It is a safety net, not a backup.
To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss or damage arising from use of this site, including loss of data.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site to break the law, and do not attempt to disrupt it for other people. Beyond that there is very little to restrict: the tool does not connect to anything, so there is nothing to abuse on someone else’s behalf.
The site is offered free of charge and without any guarantee of availability. It may change or stop being published at any time.
Advertising
Content pages carry advertising, which pays for hosting. Advertising loads only with your consent, as described in the privacy policy. Advertisements are supplied by a third party; their content is not endorsed here.
Intellectual property
The site’s design, text and source code belong to their authors. The files you create with it belong to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the site operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
Updated terms are published on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the site after that constitutes acceptance.
